Donald Abernethy, Principal

Don has 20 years of executive experience creating complex wealth management and insurance solutions for both individuals and businesses. Don was founder of Benefit Consulting Group and CEO and President of Oneida Wealth Management prior to founding Point Guard Advisors in 2016. Point Guard Advisors is a network of professionals providing sophisticated insurance and wealth management solutions to individuals and businesses across the country. Under Don’s leadership, Point Guard Advisors has gone from a concept to a successful operational entity within a short period of time, and continues to grow in size, complexity, and human resources.

 

 

 

Michael Gaff, Client Service Manager 

Mike is an Air Force veteran with ten years of analytics experience.  As an analyst he has experience compiling databases, conducting analytic simulations, overseeing information management, integrating database and software operability, and composing analytical narratives.  He also has experience in teaching and lecturing analyzed data to technical experts, to include Congressional and White House staff members.  Mike has degrees in Communications Technology, Korean, and Finance, and is a current MBA candidate through Syracuse University.  He is also licensed as a financial advisor and insurance agent.

 

 

 

Larry Fisher, Director, Employee Benefits

Larry Fisher has over 44 years’ experience in the health insurance industry and employer group benefits. Larry’s career began in 1973 with BlueCrossBlueShield of Central New York where he held numerous positions in customer service, sales and marketing. Larry’s success led him to assume the Assistant Vice-President of sales and marketing with primary responsibility for managing a multi-county region of Upstate New York. In his management capacity, Larry authored and taught sales training programs and financial alternatives to the sales force and service staff.

 

Larry joined Pont Guard Advisors in 2016 bringing broad experience in working with large employer groups to develop benefit plans and funding alternatives including self-insurance and stop loss programs. Larry’s responsibilities focus on the analysis and design for RFP’s, benefit analysis/design, cost containment, self insurance, financial alternatives and stop loss analysis
